Lapis lazuli is one of the oldest stones to be recorded in history. Records of its use date back as far as 4000 BC! Its deep blue color was cherished by many ancient civilizations, most notably the Egyptians with King Tut's sarcophagus being inlaid with scores of it! Lapis is a powerful crystal for activating the higher mind and enhancing intellectual ability. It stimulates the desire for knowledge, truth and understanding, and aids the process of learning. It is excellent for enhancing memory. It is also a great stone to inspire creativity and the imagination!
These stones are left smooth and highly polished to enhance the beautiful gold flecks which are so desired in lapis.
